Plant hire guide

Site Access Requirements for Heavy Machinery

Check gate width, surface strength, gradients, overhead cables, turning room and security access before heavy machinery arrives.

Measure more than the gate

Record gate width and height, driveway width, gradients, turning room and the strength of bridges, culverts or paving. The delivery vehicle may need substantially more space than the machine after it has been unloaded.

Protect people and property

Plan an exclusion zone around offloading and operations. Identify overhead cables, underground services, boundary walls, trees and occupied buildings. Confirm estate permissions, traffic control, neighbours and working-hour restrictions before the transporter arrives.

Quote preparation checklist

  • Confirm the machine or required site outcome
  • Share the exact location and measured access constraints
  • Explain the material being moved, excavated or delivered
  • Provide dates, working hours, site photographs and drawings
